ARTPOOL:TRA'shion Fashion photos
I wore a magenta wig... I think it helped me pretend to be someone else so that I had the nerve to walk down a runway with people watching... It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. I think the wig and the sunglasses helped me play a part instead of feeling insecure as me. I was the fashion clown of the evening! And I didn't really mind that... cause really clothes... fashion... it's all a joke isn't it? I mean if you're covered and warm... isn't that enough? I know... it's not. And clothing is one of those areas where people are constantly judging you. And I love to look nice so I get it... I get it. So for the fashion show I had four male models wearing my one-of-a-kind ties and I also wore a hand made dress, tie and two purses that I saved from the GW boutique and painted them... There were 30 designers in the fashion show and they were fabulous! Lots of neat ideas some were pieces of art and others were useable. Clothes made out of every material imaginable... from metal to plastic, cardboard, newspaper, and even FABRIC! It was a fun evening.

Listening to This American Life. It's my favorite podcast. You can find it on itunes. If you want to...
I'm tired... it's hot. I should go to bed and not force out a blog. But, here i am... sitting here with a couple of minutes by myself so maybe I can eek out a couple of words. And really I owe Test an email so I should be doing that... but I'm already here... on blogspot... cause I just uploaded several mail art pieces... so here i am.
Sometimes it feels like there is so much to say but I just can't begin.
Ahh... Saturday night--TRA'Shion Fashion show at Artpool... it's going to be fabulous... I'm walking the runway folks. Can you imagine that? I designed some recycled ties... really started off doing it for a church dance that had the theme of ties and blue jeans... and now is ending in a fashion show... I'll be wearing a dress that I made... a couple of purses that I painted and a tie that I made. I'll have some guy models wearing the rest of the ties! Can you imagine that? Pics will be coming later... after the show... should be very interesting. Marina Williams the founder and owner of Artpool is also an EXCELLENT photographer. We did a photoshoot yesterday. It was so much fun and she made me feel real pretty. So buy your tickets now... it's going to be a full house!!
Last week we incubated another 4 chicks... hoping they will be hens and not roosters. The other two are still too young to tell. At least for a novice like me! There is a photo of them--3 darkies and one blondie. We thought the blonde one wasn't going to make it because she seemed so weak but she has perked up!
Pic of me on the imac... Then 2 pieces of sent mail art.

Wackystuff is having a money mail art call. Here is my bill... It is worth zero... seems to me the same value as human life around the globe. It makes me very sad. The woman in the center is Neda who was shot in the chest at a demonstration in Tehran, Iran. She just wanted her vote to count. Or maybe she was at the wrong time or place. Now she is dead and her family has been dragged out of their apartment... and left to what fate? Neda can be seen dying in a video that was once uploaded to utube--then copied to various other sites before it was deleted by utube. The internet has changed the world... citizens and common man can now see first hand what is really happening around the world. The media and government is less of a filter of reality... now that pictures can be uploaded and sent all over the world via a cell phone. I'm not sure where all this is leading.

ok... I've been absent...

My head has been spinning lately... very unhappy with the Obama spending machine... and now listening to NPR story of the day pod cast... Using Psychology To Save You From Yourself and how the Obama administration is using psychology to help you make decisions in your life... The podcast tells that we can't make decisions or judgements... and the decisions we make don't serve our best interest. So Michele and Barrak Hussein will be making the best decisions for me...? When did I wake up to the American dream being shattered... where did freedom, justice and the American way go? Why is the federal government trying to totally crush the middle class? It's so funny--from the Democrats--choose to have gay marriage, choose to abort your babies, choose, choose, choice... but they want to make all the simple choices for us--how we spend our money, what kind of car we can drive, and soon what doctor we can see or can't see... sounds like no choice at all. Sounds like freedom being hauled away--while I think most Americans sleep. And how is NPR spinning this Psychology and how economists and government think about INDIVIDUALS--that we make error in judgements... as a good thing??Yes, let the government make the good choices for you--cause hey, they aren't individuals... they aren't human... and we all know that government doesn't make errors...
Photos... some of my art and a tasty organic fruit salad... hungry yet?

Chicks
Friday night we returned home from dinner with Granny and Gp to find a little black chick had cracked his way out of the egg... Later I got up at 3 a.m. and there was chick number 2... a silver little guy! So out of our 15 eggs only two hatched. I'm not sure if the others will hatch and that my friend, makes me sad.

Surreal...

Well. I was at the art studio... having a minute to myself and working on a small painting in a new style that I am toying with... Yes, I am the rolling stone that gathers no moss...
There was this lady on her cell phone looking around the place--Salt Creek. She was describing each painting to what I later found out was her sister on the other end. I was daydreaming that she was talking to the co-owner of her swanky New York gallery... Alas, not the case... She made her way to my studio and asked to come in. She looked at three of my self portraits and began to tell what they were saying to her. It was like she was unfolding my life before my very own eyes... She described the colors as emotions and the facial expressions as words... and in an instant she knew what I was feeling and saying for the past 10 years... it was unimaginable for me. I had never had any one talk about my art in such a way. It was like she saw the window into my soul. And everything that I hadn't really said but only painted--she had unmasked.
Later she told me that was a retired school teacher and that it was her first time at Salt Creek. She also mentioned that she had been to the Louve in Paris. That she had seen the Mona Lisa.
Photo at the top is me playing around....

I really don't ever improperly address a piece of mail art... I don't like to make enemies with the postal staff... but yet, I felt an urge to address this piece as such... and stamps as so. We'll see if it gets there... really not far to go... just a little human reading.Yesterday we went and saw the new Star Trek... I must say that I loved it. Wow, a movie without an agenda, and not based on some horrible past atrocity... a movie to just "escape". Thank you hollywood. You probably won't see me writing that again any time soon...
I've been so busy with art, art and mail art. Save the date--Chromatophore opens August 27th at Studio 620. Be there or not but really you should try to be there. I'm so excited!!!
School year is winding down. Almost over... my reign of homeschool is almost over too. Next year I'm sending the crumbcakes back to school. So this will not longer be Wee-Hoo's looking glass: life of a homeschool artist mom... it may be more like... Wee-Hoo: life an artist. Ok, mom too...
Hey if you are interested in some new music check out Joel Malizia on itunes. I like his music and you should too!

Some outgoing mail...

I've been back into the swing of mail art... and it's feeling pretty good. Mail art gives you wings... forget the red bull... The Ray concert was excellent... all except some gals who thought their cat calling was really cute... when in fact, it was very annoying... Ray took it well... they called out names of songs--like "Trouble" and he said that a concert was like making love to a woman, you have to take it nice and slow... you don't just jump on... So I think "Trouble" was second to last on the play list. If you get a chance go see and hear him play... he is excellent live. (ray lamontagne) We were in the historic Tampa Theater--that place is utterly gorgeous--built in 1926 I believe... look it up at www.tampatheater.org I think.
