UR TOY STORY Mail art show!

Hi everyone! I've been working hard to get everything ready for the UR Toy story mail art show... a show that I have been working on for a YEAR! I've been advertising and collecting mail art for this show all year! I'll be displaying about 500 pieces of mail art from many different countries... I'm guessing at least 20 different countries.  It's been an amazing year of art and i was happy to document all the pieces on my Jenniferzoe blog.  This year I will also be hosting a Fluxus performance and poetry reading event! Mark Haber, local famous writer will be doing a reading.  Local singer and song writer, Rebecca Zapen will be our musical performer!  That will be three years in a row for Rebecca and I together with art and music! And some super fantastic artists will be showing up to do Fluxus performance.  I'm guessing you are asking yourself--"what in the world is fluxus performance?"  Well show up next Saturday night at the Artpool gallery and find out!  There are so many cool artists flying in from all over the USA to perform for us!  Reed Altemus, Truman Bentley Jr, Keith Buchholz, Ginny Lloyd, Bibiana Padilla Maltos, Andrew Topel, Reid Wood and Christopher Reynolds (and ME) will all be HERE!! Can you imagine??  I really can't believe all these super cool artists will come to our little city.  It's going to be one art party!  Be sure to buy your ticket early--because it will save you $5 per ticket.  Tickets are $10 if you prebuy at www.artpoolrules.com but if you wait to get it at the door it will be a whopping $15.  But, with that ticket you will get the musical genius of Rebecca Zapen, the artistic fabulousness of the Kosharek mail art collection, and unbelieveable FLUXUS PERFORMANCES from world renoun FLUXUS ARTISTS! Stache Day at the Dali Museum

The crumbcakes and I dressed up for Stache day at the Dali. I should say... two of the cakes dressed up. #2 would have nothing of it. Two out of three ain't bad. We got more attention at the local Publix grocery store. I guess you don't see Dali impersonators every day at the grocery store.

I had a lovely evening last Saturday night at the Globe... there was a wonderful group of performers... but, one of my local favorites was there--Geri X. I got to hear Rebekah Pulley for the first time... Fabulous!

Weekend

I took my two crumbcakes and my nephew to the beach last night. There was a beautiful sunset. Here in St. Petersburg, FL we have no oil problems--YET.

There is an art project that I participated in called, "Fluxface in Space." Every piece of art created for this project will be going up into space via NASA! Anyone could upload a picture to go on one of two future NASA missions but to be a part of the art project... you had to send up a pic of you and your art. The details can be found HERE. WE GLOW

I finished this last night. Can you ever feel the joy or drudgery that certain people exude? There are people who give out energy and happiness and then others who zap you of your glow. I'm hoping to be the kind of person who gives joy. There is a value to thinking positive and living positive.

Tra'shion Fashion 2010

Every month Artpool Gallery on first Avenue North... puts on a snazzy razzie art party. Marina Williams is the owner and orchestrator of these mind blowing events. If you come to m & m or just come to be a fly on the wall... you will have a great time! This past Saturday night was a huge night for Artpool with their Tra'shion fashion show. Area clothes designers put their greenness and recycling brains to work making fashion out of trash... or discarded goods. Fashion was the main event but there were so many other things going on... it's hard to even describe it all. You could have your face painted, you could watch artists demonstrating their painting techniques on canvas, inside was the bar and an art show on the walls as well as a huge selection of vintage items and clothing for sale. And that's not all...you really have to come out and see it to believe it! Join the hippest party in town at the Artpool. The New Dali

A couple of weekends ago... I was privileged to go on a hard-hat tour of the new Dali museum. She is being built to withstand a category 5 hurricane. Amazing and beautiful structure. Richard Canard and I were talking months ago about making a way to make money on mail art... why not? Traditionally mail art is something sent for free. We were thinking it would be nice to make mail art available to normal folks who have no intention on getting involved in the underground society that is mail art.
