Wake up America!
Goodmorning. Yes, I should be sleeping and here I am again... awake at 5 am. I've been reading Sophie Scholl and the White Rose by Annette Dumbach and Jud Newborn. Probably a book that will be banned by future administrations. I just can't wait until all of our rights are removed! Socialism is going to be so FUN!! I guess you can sense my sarcasm? I wish--as a nation--we could wake up to the government take over happening right before our eyes. I don't really care if it's McCain or Obama--each will take us on a socialist path. Should we not be afraid of the FAIRNESS doctrine?? Do you really want a world court to rule over America? (and the world). How well does the government really do things--so well that you want them to take over every major corporate business?? NO! Power to the people!! But the people need to wake up in America! It's time for a third party choice... I'm just saying. If the cowards--Rush and glenn would get there stuff together and start touting Ron Paul or someone who was not a socialist--then that would be a start. It's time America to take back what is ours. Let's not drink the koolaide, let's not get FREE everything for EVERYONE!! When will you realize that nothing is free and that you can no longer be bribed with YOUR OWN MONEY??!!!

So what makes you think that socialism equates with censorship? The most socialist / social democratic states, such as Sweden, Finland, France; tend to have much less censorship than the US.
As for fairness, one of the three pillars of the left is just that: Liberty, EQUALITY, and brotherhood. The USA has become a much more unequal and unfair society in the last twenty years, so it's time that was reversed.

I don't believe in Equality to an extreme. There will always be people who have what we call the "American Dream." These are the people that from nothing become something--and they are able to become this something because they are not held back by race or station in life. This is equality. It's the idea that no matter who you are--you can succeed. Obviously, this can't happen in most nations of the world. I don't want to be in a nation where wealth is redistributed to make everyone "equal." This is just a silly idea and only embraced by the poorest and most uneducated. The fairness doctrine isn't about being fair. It's about a redistribution of everything--i mean airwaves--radio, tv... so that everyone has equal playing time. So we all know that terrible songs get a lot of playing time right? This is not about songs but about politicians with unpopular beliefs--who have been proven unsuccessful at radio and tv to be given equal playtime as those who are popular. Capitalism dictates who the winner is--the one who people take an interest in--the one that gets invested in. Who do you think will be paying for losers to have their tv or radio show? Government--taxes--ME! Yes, I hope the US does get a reversal--stop going down the road of the socialists--Obama and McCain. Let's close our borders and focus on the homefront. Let's not care what the world thinks of us. Alas, can we? I think we are already that stinking global economy. It sucks to be in bed with the world.
But people ARE held back by race or station. You need to be exceptional to overcome hurdles in life, and a just society will remove those by ensuring that everyone gets a good education and healthcare. That doesn't happen now.
As for your idea of redistributing everything, like media spectrum: that's plain silly, has never been proposed, and you know it. In the same way you set up a straw man in your original post by suggesting that ordinary books would be banned. That's not so, and you should also know that.
However, access to media might do some good. Ask yourself why the program "The Power of Nightmares" has never been shown on US TV.

It has been proposed. It was shot down due to being against the Constitution but now Congress is looking into it again. It's all there right at Wikipedia. I'm not making this up.
I hate to tell you but as a middle class WHITE family--I have no access to a good free education or any health care. Now if I was a minority--if I was an illegal alien--I would get health care and far more opportunities for free education. (college, vouchers for private schools, etc) BUT, I don't want freebies from the government. I guess our difference is that I don't want government help--and I don't feel that I should be taxed so that people can get their "fair share." I believe your fair share is what you WORK for, what you earn. And all people in America have a chance to earn something good--I really believe that--I even believe that being a minority makes life easier--with all the government freebies. This is not 1950 or 1850.
I've never heard of the power of nighmares. Sorry I don't know what it is about. I'm not a fan of watching tv as I think it's a huge waste of time. I would think that an educated person like yourself would also think so. Perhaps I'll google it and see what I am missing.
Oh, the power or nightmares. So there really is no such thing as a muslim terrorist. Thanks for the 411. So who was burning France last summer? Who was gasing the tube? I guess it was Cheney? He's one busy guy. I guess there were no hijackers who took out the World Trade Center. So bombings all over the world--they are just... figments of our imaginations or American covert ops. I lived in the Middle East--I've met radical Muslims. They will do anything to rule the world. Death is not an issue--neither is killing. So let me know when you change your mind about that.
Here is an argument going on right now about the Fairness Doctrine... I found this on www.glennbeck.com. Do you hear him in England or is he censored? LOL.

Argument Against Idiots: Fairness Doctrine
August 18, 2008 - 13:08 ET
How to win the argument de jour with logic and facts
The issue:
Fairness Doctrine
What the liberal whiners say:
1. 'We need the Fairness Doctrine so that both sides of the issues can be heard on the radio again!'
2. 'You just shout them down when they call, and it's critical to our 1st Amendment that opposing viewpoints are heard in all discussions'
3. 'The one-sided conversations on talk radio are harmful to our Democracy'
4. 'Well, ever since the last Fairness Doctrine was overturned, there's been almost NO liberal voices on the radio, how do you explain that?'
Your winning, logical, reasoned arguments
1. Is your phone broken? Call in and be heard. Callers with contrasting points of view in fact, are almost always taken first.
2. Oh, you mean like the way Nancy Pelosi is hearing from Republicans in Congress? She's absolutely shut them out of every piece of legislation proposed the last six months. Then she has the nerve to say she'll support the "Fairness Doctrine"? Is it more important to have the debate on the radio...or in Congress? Also, I must have missed the conservative points of view on NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, The New York Times, L.A. Times, San Francisco Chronicle, Washington Post, Time, Newsweek...and on and on and on. Talk radio balances the scales.
3. First of all, we don't have a Democracy, we have a Constitutional, Democratic Republic. And what's harmful to it, even dangerous, is deception. News sources that claim to be impartial, but are the opposite. The bias of all the sources above has been proven over and over again. With talk radio, you know what you're getting. The hosts don't claim impartiality. And if you don't like or agree with what you're hearing...you can always turn it off. There's no talk radio Gestapo forcing you to listen.
4. That's right, the market place decided. Liberal radio has been attempted numerous times, and has failed miserably each time. If there was a demand for liberal talk, there would be many liberal talk stations on the dial. Those that currently exist, such as the few Air America affiliates left, have no ratings.
